- Demonstrate the effects of drugs and alcohol
- Not to stereotype males in the way that we usually would
- Show the effect of drug and alcohol abuse
- Demonstrate same sex relationships to make society see them as more acceptable
- Challenge peoples stereotypes of gender
- To show that women can act in the same ways as men
- To show that we assume men are more violent and more likely to take drugs then women, the fact that this is not the case makes us rethink stereotypes
- Challenge the audience when watching this product
- Show negative effects of drugs and alcohol, women are not just victims of violence
- Not to judge someone
- Represent society in a realistic manner (one night stand)
- Make us realise situations like this happen in our society and we can't just look the other way
- The way drugs make you act
- That we judge people too quickly
- That we assume it's from a man's point of view to keep us interested in the product
- To make us not judge people
- To demonstrate different types of relationships
- To stop people taking drugs and drinking because of the negative actions it leads to
Negotiated:
- I understood the dominant message, however I am against the overuse of drugs and alcohol
- I understand the message from the music video but I don't like fact that they've challenged the stereotype of women
- I didn't think it needed to be that extreme but it was relevant to life
- Awful to watch and as a female I would not want to be treated like that, it was the drugs which made the people act like that
- It shows the impact of drugs but in an over exaggerated way
- I don't think people should do drugs whilst drinking, don't agree with the fact they were fighting but if people want to act in that way, it's their own choice
- I agree with representation of how the drugs make people fell however I don't agree with the way women have been treated in this video
- Music video is honest but I don't agree with the types of behaviour it promotes
- The music video wants to be controversial like the band itself, but I don't agree with the extreme behaviour that is presented to the audience
- Understand the message however a lot of people will be offended by this
- I find it weird and it made me feel sick
- I like the point its making, but it may offend gay women
- Drugs might be why she's acting like that but I don't agree with her behaviour
- Drugs have influenced her actions so I think she wouldn't usually act in that way
- It's a bit revealing and disrespectful towards women
- She wouldn't act in that way if she hadn't taken drugs/alcohol
- I understand that this music video and the actions in it are exaggerated because it makes it more consumable for an audience
- I understand that this is probably not the way in which she usually acts
Oppositional:
- Content is too explicit
- Do not agree with the abusive relationships
- This text promotes an unhealthy lifestyle
- Some religions may take it offensively
- People may be against drugs/drinking/sex/drink driving and strip clubs
- It's from a woman's point of view so they are stereotyped as only there for sex
- Women wouldn't start a fight with every man in a club, she wouldn't behave in such a manner
- Religion may contradict text, audience may be homophobic and/or against drugs and drinking
- They see the product as immoral
- Disregard the text because they choose to believe it is a man
- People wouldn't want their kids to see it, sets bad examples
- Offensive to a number of people in society
- Audience would degect it because it makes them feel uncomfortable
- Don't associate as they don't take drunk/drink/aren't violent
- Can't relate to it as no experience of affects od drugs/alcohol
- May be saying that taking drugs/alcohol is okay
- Find the product offensive
