First Draft - Mock Exam

This is the first draft of my film trailer.
During the phone call scene I still have parts to film for between the scenes (similar to how I show the character of Tyler when he is mentioned)

Messages to cast

I often sent messages to the cast to arrange filming dates and locations.

Costume

My costume ideas are for my actors to wear regular clothing as it is a teen murder mystery therefore my target audience will relate more to my characters.

I will have my antagonist wearing gloves as it adds a sense of mystery as for the most part of my trailer the only part of the antagonist we see is their hands.

Focus Group 1

Initial Questionnaire

The questions I am asking before my focus groups are:

Where do you watch film trailers? (YouTube/television/cinema etc.)

What genres of film do you enjoy and why?

What do you enjoy about film trailers?

Do you like the use of voice-overs in film trailers? Why/why not?

What kind of scenes do you like to see in a trailer? Why?

What characters do you expect to see in a trailer?

What kind of soundtrack do you expect within a trailer?

What would encourage you to watch trailers more frequently?

What trailer did you last watch?

What did you enjoy about it?

Here are the responses:

Demographics

What are they?
They are how people are put into a class due to factors such as:

  • age
  • gender
  • income
  • location
  • ethnicity

A
They are more likely to watch:
Films based upon classic novels such as The Great Gatsby.

B
They are more likely to watch:

C1
They are more likely to watch:

C2
They are more likely to watch:

D
They are more likely to watch:

E
They are more likely to watch:
Films such as the movie shank

I have found it difficult to link films to the other demographics due to the fact films can appeal to a variety of different classes unlike music which is stereo typically linked to one class.

It is important to understand demographics to be able to understand the target audience of a product and be able to direct the product towards them, the ideology of the trailer has to reflect the target audience's ideology so they are able to relate to the trailer.

Currently the industry advertises films through the use of television, youtube, cinema trailers.
